Are you getting the below error message when connecting your free Office365 email address?
The good news is that Office 365 requires several security features when connecting to a 3rd party app. Syncing your Office 365 email with First will require you to create an app specific password to keep your account safe. The bad news is that it will take a few more steps then connecting a Gmail account.
If at anytime during these steps you are needing assistance reach out and submit a request here.
1. Enable Two Factor Authentication on your account
In order to enable Two Factor Authentication on your account, follow the steps outlined here. You must be an Office 365 global admin to set up or modify multi-factor authentication. If you are not the admin, submit a request here and we will contact your admin or IT department to see if it can be manually turned on for your email account.
2. Create an App password for Microsoft 365
Once you have enabled Two Factor Authentication on your account, you will now need to create an app password for your First account. This is a cryptic password that you will use in place of your current password when prompted to enter a password for this email address. Steps to create an app specific password can be found here. Before following these steps, confirm whether your Office 365 admin has turned on multi-factor authentication for your account. If they haven't, when you try to do these steps you won't see the options in Office 365.
*** When you get to this screen, COPY the app password below. You will need to use this password later ***
3. Enter App Password Into First
Open your First Conversation app and click on the Network tab at the bottom right of the screen.
In blue letters you will see 'Add Email Account'. Click to add your Microsoft 365 account.
Enter your email address into the space provided and click 'Sign In'.
When prompted to enter your password. DO NOT enter your regular email password. Instead enter the app specific password you copied or wrote down that was provided by Microsoft 365 (see picture above). For example, in the password section you would type: yqkmkmpvmtmsfqyb (from the example above) into the password space. Yes, your password is long and hard to type in, but it keeps your account safe and secure!
If you have reached this point, you have successfully synced your Microsoft 365 account and should see your contacts in app shortly.
